DOMAIN NAME BASICS - Private Domain Registration

When you register a domain, your name, address, email address and phone number
are made available to anyone who wants to see it. Your personal information is
exposed 24 hours a day, everyday, to anyone, anywhere. You have the power to
change this. With a Go Daddy private (“unlisted”) registration, registering a domain
name doesn’t mean sacrificing your privacy.
Your new or existing domain is registered in the name of Domains By Proxy®
(a Go Daddy affiliate company)—so their information is made public—not yours. Your
information stays private, but you retain full benefits of domain registration. You can
cancel, sell, renew or transfer your domain; set-up name servers for your domain;
and resolve disputes involving your domain.

DOMAIN NAME BASICS - Domain Registration Types

Business Registration
Making sure your domain name is seen by potential customers is one of the biggest
challenges for any Web site—and one of the biggest keys to success online.
Go Daddy’s Business Registration exposes your online business to MILLIONS of daily
searches at both GoDaddy.com and other registrars. Business Registration gives
online shoppers all of your vital business information—including your business name,
address, phone, fax, email, link to Web site, hours of operation and even a map to
your business—in just one click! Plus our Business Registration lets you add custom
images and links (perfect for product images, coupons, special offers and more).

Protected Registration
Add Protected Registration and you’ll also take advantage of Business Registration
and the important safeguards and security of Domain Ownership Protection:
􀂄 Expiration Protection: protects you from losing your domain name due to
credit card expiration, failed billing, or outdated contact information.
􀂄 Deadbolt Transfer Protection: makes it impossible for MOST transfers
to occur—inadvertent, accidental, malicious or otherwise.
􀂄 Ownership Protection Reports: email updates help you keep track of
vital domain information.

DOMAIN NAME BASICS - To Transfer A Domain Name

You may transfer your domain name from your current registrar to Go Daddy
at any time (within the restrictions set by ICANN® and your current registrar).
Note: ICANN regulations prohibit transferring a domain name that has been
registered or transferred within the last 60 days
.
Go Daddy offers a fast, automated, risk-free domain transfer thanks to an
innovative Rapid Transfer Systemthat spares you steps and saves you time
(transfers are often completed in five days or less, but may take up to seven
days to complete).
Email
Follow these easy steps to ensure a smooth and timely transfer:

Step 1: Purchase a transfer from our Web site by visiting www.GoDaddy.com.

Step 2: Advise the administrative contact of your domain that the name is being
transferred. Go Daddy will email your administrative contact by the next
business day to request transfer approval.

Step 3: When this acceptance is received, Go Daddy will send a transfer
request to the Registry and then the Registry will email your
current registrar.

Step 4: Most likely, your current registrar will send your administrative
contact an email asking for your approval of the transfer to
Go Daddy. Please respond as directed.

Step 5: Your current registrar will send an acceptance or rejection notice
to the Registry and the Registry will email Go Daddy a notice of
the acceptance or rejection.

Step 6: Go Daddy will send you an email informing you that the transfer
is complete or has failed.

After Go Daddy has notified you that the transfer is complete, log in to your account
at www.GoDaddy.com and verify the contact information for your domain.

DOMAIN NAME BASICS - Top-Level Domai

DOMAIN NAME BASICS - Top-Level Domains
A Top-Level Domain (TLD) is the part of the domain name located to the right of the
dot (“.”). The most common TLD in use today is .COM, closely followed by .NET and
.ORG. There are several other popular top-level domains, including .BIZ, .INFO, .NAME,
.WS and .MOBI

Top-level domains have certain guidelines attached, but are generally available to any
registrant, anywhere in the world. Exceptions are restricted TLDs (rTLDs)—which
include .BIZ and .NAME—that require the registrant to represent a certain type of
entity, or to belong to a certain community. For example, the .NAME TLD is available
strictly to individuals.

A top-level domain can also be of geographic significance and only available to
registrants in the locale defined by the TLD. These are called country-code TLDs
(ccTLDs) and include such top-level domains as .US (United States), .EU (Europe),
.TV (Tuvalu), .CC (Cocos Islands), .DE (Germany), .JP (Japan), .BE (Belgium),
.UK (United Kingdom), .NZ (New Zealand) and .CN (China).

If the .COM you want to register is already taken, you can check to see if
it’s available with an alternate TLD. You may also want to consider registering
all or some of the more common TLDs of the same domain name in order to
protect your brand, your site or yourself from someone else with your brand or
name in mind.

To find out which TLDs we currently offer, or for more information on registering
domain names, please visit our Web site at www.GoDaddy.com. Visit today and you
